ANIMALS:
Due to the heat, low precipitation and scarce amounts of vegetation, only animals capable of adapting to this environment can live in the semi-arid. Grazing animals such as wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, gazelles, deer, and bison are attracted to the grasses of the semiarid. The herbivores bring with them the top predators like coyotes, jackals, hyenas, lions, and wolves. Many of the animals are nocturnal.
VEGETATION:
Most of all plants living here are able to retain moisture (or conserve water) such as cacti and tall shrubs. Because the semiarid land is dry, the plants usually have adapted to having a thorny or waxy coating to protect the water they carry.Cultivation is not suitable for this region due to frequent droughts, so the ones that are able to grow here are usually to be eaten by animals.
